Too Many Churches?: Posted 5/31/2010 4:36:39 PM

I just had a lady in the store, and she commented on how many churches are in the Eastern, NC area. She wondered if we, as the body of Christ, could do anything to foster more unity among all the different churches; sort of pool our resources together to spread the Gospel better and share the love of Christ in more powerful, tangible ways. What do you think?

Memorial Day: Posted 5/30/2010 9:16:22 PM

Let''s stop and pause for one brief day on May 31st, 2010 to remember the brave men and women who have fallen on the field of battle defending our Nation''s freedoms for the last 234 years. Perhaps you have been personally affected. Perhaps you know someone who has been personally affected. On this day, let''''s set aside all our differences to come together as just Americans who want to reflect on the cost of freedom.

I''m a retired U.S. Marine. While I was on active duty, I had the uncoveted honor of escorting the remains of 3 Marines who were killed in Iraq. I delivered the remains to parents in Dallas, TX, St. Louis, MO, and Anchorage, AK. One of them was in a wooden box no bigger than a shoe box because that''s all that was left of him; I handed the box to his mother. I saw the cost of freedom in those mothers'''' eyes. I felt it in my heart. It is a great cost, and we dare not forget it. Let''s live lives worthy of the price that has been paid for our freedom as Americans.
